Why is silver used in jewelry?

why is silver used in jewelry rather than gold or platinum? I thought gold would be better b/c its not as reactive, but i dunno.

Of course, gold and platinum are used for jewelry making. However, as silver is a more affordable precious metal, it has a larger distribution in the jewelry market.
